When I look around I see the playful images of light and shadow reflecting off of everyday objects, waiting to be noticed. When I look up I see the sky as a canvas bursting with abstract images of beauty and awe.

From this perspective, I am both an abstract and naturalistic digital photographer capturing images as they naturally appear in the environment with minimal processing. In my work on reflections, the photographs show humorous and mystical images created by the reflections of light bouncing off everyday objects, whether it be off the top of a shampoo bottle, a printer cover or a metal tape measure. When photographing abstract images of clouds, the sky becomes a wondrous canvas. I view them as both majestic abstractions and naturalistic images that elicit emotions of joy, fear and awe. In addition to photographing images, the lofty and awesome nature of clouds inspired me to create an immersive video experience to give the viewer a sense of what it feels like to be inside of and surrounded by clouds. The immersive video uses one projector and includes music, poetry and silence – – it acts as a metaphor for life experience and creates a sense of spiritual connection. As a companion to my photography exhibits in Northeast Massachusetts and Southeast Florida, I wrote the following photography books: “Abstract Reflections – A Modernist Perspective”; “Enveloped by Clouds – A Photographic Spiritual Journey”; and “Inside a Cloud – Poems and Photos”.
