I am a graphic communicator by design. Brand design is my expertise, communicating ideas is my passion. The skills I have as a graphic designer serve me as a mixed-media artist who is concerned with climate change and social causes.
Can art influence? Yes, no, maybe. My world (and yours) is rapidly changing environmentally, technologically, and socially. My purpose in creating meaningful art is to stir the emotions, spark conversation, and inspire action. To calm my soul, I am painting flowers as a form of meditation.
There are many ways to approach a concept in art. Certain ideas can be expressed either through realism or abstraction. I enjoy working in both directions, using the duality of my brain. I see shapes, forms, positive and negative spaces and enjoy interpreting them through the world of color. There are many possibilities, and the magic begins the moment when the idea is born and then seeing how it expresses itself and takes on its own force of nature. Then, process and instinct take form and I am on an exciting journey.
My process is one of discovery. Play is important, I like moving bits of ideas, using collage, paint, mixed media, photography, anything and everything. Repurposing and recycling are integral to my mixed media art.
Another passion is my one-of-a-kind painted purses. I paint on cotton canvas or linen fabric and then construct a special purse from the painting. You may find a purse to match your singular personality! Take a look: http://www.ElaineDe ... view more »
