Emilio Apontesierra-Paretti

Emilio Aponte Sierra Paretti is known as Apontesierra. Born in Valledupar-Colombia and brought his
love of the arts to the United States of America in 2002 when he moved seeking
political asylum. Currently he is living in Palm Beach Gardens, FL.
Apontesierra’s body of work are sculptures and wearable art pieces. His body of work are created using three mediums: Ink on Canvas,

His Mixed Media pieces are createdusing his own developed technique called Apontesierra’s Paper Manipulation Fine
Art. Apontesierra’s technique is a mix of different paper manipulation
techniques such as Origami,  Paper mâché and Paper Sculpture plus fiber
manipulation and fashion design techniques.

“I am an experimenter of the arts with a mixture of influences. My body of work created using
Apontesierra’s technique are sculptures and wearable art pieces created weaving
together pages from colorful magazines, news publications, and aluminum foil
and embellished with non-conventional material to simulated clothing,
accessories and jewelry. The colors and images create a texture that I love and
the energy cannot be created in the same way using other mediums. We need to
use existing materials to transform and change our contaminated world into
something beautiful. This is why I use recyclables in my work”.
