Gregory Dirr is a multidisciplinary artist with varying bodies of work. His interest in imagined landscapes, classic children’s stories, and duality are carefully illustrated by his spontaneous use of upcycled media. While traversing underlying concepts of existence, his work navigates the viewer through life experiences.
Since beginning his career, Gregory Dirr has exhibited over 150 times and curated over 50 exhibitions. His art depicts chaotic or peculiar scenes and utilizes a plethora of materials – from repurposed wood of trees in his backyard, to ground up gemstones. His focus on ecologically sourcing materials and alternative process is what makes his art distinctive.
Gregory was awarded the Silver Key for Portfolio by The National Scholastic Art and Writing Alliance in 2004 and graduated from Ringling College of Art and Design in 2008. While there, he produced many significant pieces, winning the Best of Core and Best of Fine Arts awards. He went on to produce public art, began art directing for the nonprofit organization Sickle Cell Natural Wellness Group, and is currently the co-curator for the nonprofit ArtHeart.
In 2009, Gregory founded the artist collective Thought Coalition, which aims at promoting a variety of artists to a large audience through collaboration and teamwork. Thought Coalition operates with over twenty artists based nationally and internationally, who work in mediums such as music, photography, visual art and video.
