“Find something you love.” Such have been the abiding words of inspiration that began over fifty years ago…and were a catalyist for my paintings, collages, and artists books. I am a university-trained New York artist (MFA, BFA) whose jumping point has been the majestic qualities of nature, and the arts themselves: song, contemporary architecture, dance, literature.
My paintings and collages are in the permanent collections of the Museum of the City of New York, the Staten Island Museum, The Hudson River Museum, the Museum of Fine Arts of St. Petersburg (FL) and the NY Public Library (SI). I have held awards from the NYC Dept. of Cultural Affairs, the Chenven Foundation, and Columbia University (scholarship). I currently have two of my “vintage” paintings included in the US State Dept.’s Art in Embassies Program. In 2021, the Cultural Council of Palm Beach County selected my work for a month-long solo exhibit at their headquarters (the famed Montgomery Building in Lake Worth, FL: “Helen Levin: Gestural Abstraction” in 2021.
