In my most recent body
of artwork, I explore images of women and a range of emotions. I am searching
for a common link with both subjects. The portraits invite the viewer to
journey through my eyes to explore thoughts and feelings we all share. Through
these works, I hope to open a dialog with the viewer to communicate, interact,
and create a common ground of understanding.

I use acrylic paint on canvas to transmit my inner frustrations
and express them in the images I create.
I experiment with color, texture, light, form, and nature to create an
image of beauty to dialogue with the viewer. These are forms that allow them to
question what they are observing and hopefully relate to the portrait. I am, in
a way, opening the possibility that they can connect to the subject in each
image. Connecting either to the emotion or to the image portrayed in front of
them.

My undefined emotions within my surroundings make the first
layer of the selection of colors. I then create the backgrounds using layers of
paint, lines, and forms to express my feelings. The viewer is offered a version
of reality within each portrait. This reality questions gender, sexuality,
racial lines, and emotions in our present-day society.
