Landis Carey

Landis Carey is a ceramic installation artist and synesthete who sees and feels color during meditation. Her work translates emotionally resonant color experiences into modular ceramic compositions for viewers’ reflection, comfort, and connection. Following a rare cancer diagnosis, Carey’s practice evolved from functional pottery to conceptual installation, exploring the infinite fields of rich, undulating color and piercing white light she experiences in meditation. Through layered glazes and handbuilt forms, she creates surfaces that shift with changing light, revealing depth and subtle variations in color. Expanding her private meditative experiences into shared space, where others can find moments of hope, calm, and groundedness, is the core purpose of the artist’s creative practice.
