I am a Utica NY Native. I have an Associates Degree in Business. I followed my dreams downstate to NYC when I was 32 years old. I relocated to Brooklyn NY with my 12 year old son & began persusing my dreams to be a singer. It wasnt easy. I was still working a day job. I was a cosmetologist. I began attending music school at Mannas College of Music Upper West Side. After 1 year, I auditioned for NSU Jazz & was accepted to study at 1 of the most sought out Jazz Universities in the World, a higher education for sure. I wasnt sure if I could do it. But I was going to try. While in school I held down a part time job & had a weekly show of my own called Jazz Fever. It grew to be 1 of Nycs premier Jazz Jams, even WBGO was mentioning it on air. But come my SR year, I had to sacrifice the show, things were getting too challenging, with all that I was accountable for. I was reading music, playing the piano, had a SR Recital was approaching. I also auditioned for Dr Billy Taylor’s Prestigeous JazzMobile Competition! I made it past 3 days worth of 100s of auditioners. I waited pensively to see if my name would make it on the list! There it was! I was on the list of Semi-finalists of the Top 12 Singers chosen to compete! I made it all the way to the final four too! Right before that happened, I graduated from NSU with a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Music & Performance. After the Competition? I was chosen from a submission, to travel abroad. I was going to Japan! Nagoya Japan for 3 months! As a Headliner to sing at the Marriot Hotels Zenith Sky Lounges 54th Floor Penthouse. When I returned to the US , I was so enthralled & inspired, I decided to record a CD. My debut CD. I planned this CD from conception to fruition all alone & the cd was chosen as 1 of the “Best Jazz Cds” of 2016 by the Jazz Journalist Association by Esteemed Jazz Critics in Mutilple Categories. Not bad for a girl from Central NY? It took a year amd a half to plan, write, record, edit, master & plan a shoot & cd cover but I did that too. I have performed at the Apollo Theater, Shelburne Hotel, Lexington Lounge, Marriott Hotel, The Zinc Bar, Sweet Rhythm, The Kitano Hotel on Park Ave, Alhambra Ballroom in Harlem, Ashford & Simpsons Sugar Bar in Nyc, i Opened the Hudson River Amphitheater for Jazz Forums Month long Celebration of Ella Fitzgerald, I also curated a show titled Ellábration for Ella’s Centennial at the Zinc Bar that was sold out & just recently performed with Wynton Marsalis; Conductor Damien Sneed & Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with the Choral Le Chateau, a 60 piece Gospel Choir in the Chautauqua Jazz Festival in Chatauqua NY.
