I am a retired educator who taught General Science, Chemistry, Biology, Russian and Technology at all levels for 40 years working with people aged 4 to 90. I was the designated photographer wherever I worked or played but had no formal training. When I began my photographic journey in earnest in 2006, I discovered that the challenge of looking at our world in unique ways enthralls me. Exploring the world through vision and the magic of light reveals hidden relationships.
I love photography – it allows me the joy of being a lifelong learner. I look, I experiment, I try to break the rules. I strive to use my photographs to find the essence of what I am shooting, with emotion and energy. In the words of the famed photographer Elliot Erwitt, ‘It’s about finding something interesting in an ordinary place. I found it has little to do with the things you see and everything to do with the way you see them.”
I have exhibited in many juried shows in galleries and museums, have frequently been juried into in Black and White Magazine and have judged in local camera clubs. I have been invited to share my photography expertise in presentations in Florida, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and on ZOOM at local and international levels. My photography appears in many private collections in the US and Canada.
When asked what my favorite photo is, I always reply: MY NEXT ONE!
