Mei O'Malley

I am an independent comic artist who specializes in illustration and digital art. I was born in China and raised in West Palm Beach so I started my art journey by attending classes and camps at the Armory Art Center as a kid. After that, I made my way to Bak Middle School of the Arts, then on to Dreyfoos High School of the Arts all the way to Maryland Institute College of Art.

I currently work as a veterinary technician, because it pays the bills, but I still find time to draw and sell artwork on the side. My artwork usually involves characters I’ve made up exploring the world through my own perspective. I am always inspired by new people and experiences that I can shove into a new character or comic. It feels cathartic to write stories about things that happen to me or around me and I always enjoy getting to share my life with others through humor and comics.

My process usually involves rough sketches, long hours of refining, and many many tears.
