NAOMI A, is an American artist. She works as a printmaker and photographer. Although innately drawn to handwork as a young person, her education was in Music at the U.of Toronto, where she graduated with an Artist Diploma, in Voice, and a certificate of completion from the Opera School. In the 1980’s Naomi started an art-based jewelry business through which she sold her unique designs to retailers including museum stores. Her works were known for their custom, complex use of colors, and have been compared to the paintings of Sonia Delaunay. (NaomiAdesigns.com). Naomi blurred the lines between craft and fine art. In the 1990’s She returned to full-time study at CECEP de Vieux Montréal, full-time for two years and holds a certificate in Joaillierie. In the early 2000’s, Naomi left commerce completely to focus solely on fine art, first at the SMFA, Boston and more recently at the Armory Art School in Florida, where she won first prize for Printmaking and Photography in 2015. Her ongoing studies include study with Master printmakers and expert photography teachers, to increase her knowledge and skills, as well as to learn how to make art both environmentally as well as physically safe. Her current work is represented by the urban landscape which presents us with trees, as sculptural objects, yet unnoticed; the flowers with both humble and complex beauty, ignored.
