Sam Meinke

I’m an up and coming artist based out of Lake Worth, FL while also working full time with the big cats at Palm Beach Zoo. The natural world and the emotions I get from animals have always been an inspiration for my art. Growing up as Tampa native, I would often go to work with my mom who also worked in the zoo field. I didn’t know it at the time but being surrounded by animals like giraffes, tigers, and elephants would have a huge impact on the course of my life. That sense of childhood awe will never leave me. For my current gallery showing I’m drawing inspiration from real life moments – the gaze from a tiger, an alligator in the Everglades, a spotted eagle ray in our local reef. I’m channeling these moments from memory and imagination through an expressive painting style.
