Capturing the American Landscape
From the hazy Everglades to the vast indigo mountains of the American West, I use my camera to capture the unimaginable, the profound, the uncommon. For 20 years as a professional photographer, my mission has been to explore our relationship with nature, the environment, and how these intersect with art and technology.
As an instructor at the Palm Beach Photographic Centre in West Palm Beach, I share this passion with students of all skill levels in a wide range of engaging, informative, and fun workshops. I also teach Landscape and Mobile Photography courses annually at Maine Media Workshops in Rockport.
I am an eco-explorer, a tech-hungry photographer, and I’m always ready for the next adventure.
Twenty Years of Experience
I studied history and photography for 4 years at Rutgers University. I convinced my History Thesis Professor to let me do a 30 image photographic essay as my thesis. In the mid 90’s I moved into digital in a big way, studying Multimedia Production at The Art Institute of Seattle. I was among the first to earn a degree in this field. I have worked on both commercial and editorial assignments. Some of my clients include the 20th Century Fox: The X-Files, A&E Networks: The History Channel’s Great Race, and REI on a conservation campaign to set aside part of the Issaquah Plateau (a fast-growing area near Seattle) as a park for future generations.

As a digital photographer, I always have my eye on the horizon. Photography is constantly evolving; new technologies, editing software, and mobile devices are the future. Social media makes sharing a photographic journey instantaneous and interactive. This is something I’ve been preparing for since the days of film photography. Today, the right image at the right time can change your entire life in an instant. I want my students to be ready for that moment.
My Mission
On my South Florida Ranch, I am a rescue dog wrangler with a horse, a historic barn, and more beautiful sunsets than I can count. In this idyllic locale, I am smack in the middle of the wrestling duality of Mother Nature and Mankind. Whether I’m torso-deep in swamp water for a photo shoot or in downtown West Palm Beach teaching a FOTOwalk, my mission and artistic integrity come first. I capture the tenderness, the breathtaking, and the sometimes heartbreaking scenes in our National Parks, cities, and countrysides. As a teacher, I share my skills and techniques, constantly brainstorming better ways to engage and craft more compelling workshops for future students to enjoy.
