Vita Litvak is a Florida-based artist, educator, and arts administrator whose work is deeply informed by her experiences as an immigrant. Born in Tiraspol, the capital of the self-declared post-Soviet nation of Transnistria, in 1980, she immigrated to the United States with her family at age 12. Her art practice, rooted in photography and extending into video and community-based projects, investigates the effects of migration on perception, identity, and subjectivity.
Litvak holds a BA from Haverford College and an MFA in Photography and Film from Virginia Commonwealth University. Beyond her studio practice, Litvak is a dedicated arts educator and administrator. She has served as the Director of Education at Fleisher Art Memorial and as the Executive Director of Allens Lane Art Center. She is currently the Director of Education at the Armory Art Center.
