Xabier Frank

Hello, I am Xabier Frank, a local potter in the city of Lake Worth Beach. My main body of work is of the utilitarian kind, that is of the everyday ex. Vases, bottles, dishes, serving platters/ bowls, storage canisters, liquid soap dispensers, etc. done in stoneware clay at cone ten. The glazes ( if any), slips, and ashes are applied but the final decorations and outcome of the pieces are left to what the clay and kiln atmosphere can offer. Atmospheres used and that are currently in use include cone ten gas reduction, soda atmosphere done in gas, raku, and ash slip. Firing of the wares is done in the Armory Art Center facilities. I hail from a heavy science background as a marine biologist so the geography, geology, mining, processing, throwing, chemistry, and firing of the pieces fascinates me to no end.
