Fallen Founders Part I-The Treason of Benedict Arnold

The name Benedict Arnold is synonymous with treason, yet before his infamous defection, he was one of George Washington’s most brilliant and daring battlefield commanders.

In the first installment of the two-part Fallen Founders series, historian Dr. Ralph Nurnberger explores the remarkable rise and tragic downfall of a celebrated American Revolutionary War hero.

What drove Arnold to betray the American cause? Was it greed, deep resentment over perceived slights by Congress, or the influence of his Loyalist wife? Through Arnold’s legendary courage at Saratoga and his secret negotiations with the British, this lecture examines the complex motivations behind one of the most notorious betrayals in American history.
