Fallen Founders: Part II-The Enigmatic Aaron Burr

Aaron Burr remains one of the most polarizing figures in American history. While he is best known for his fatal duel with Alexander Hamilton, Burr was also a Revolutionary War hero and the third Vice President of the United States—an intellectually gifted and complex political figure whose ideas were, in some ways, decades ahead of his time.

From Burr’s intellectual depth and political ambitions to his alleged attempt to establish a Western empire, this lecture examines the question: Was Aaron Burr a visionary leader or a calculated scoundrel?
