Resource Depot will present Gathering: The Mixed Media Work of Kristin Miller, a new exhibition opening this September in the Pam Sartory GalleRE. Inspired by clouds on a clothesline, twigs gathered into a nest and light-filled memories of abstract landscapes, the exhibition explores the act of gathering shapes, lines and textures from the natural world.
The exhibition reflects the mission of the Pam Sartory GalleRE, which showcases local and regional artists who incorporate reused materials into their work and encourages new ways of thinking about art, sustainability and the environment.
Miller’s layered horizon lines consider the spaces between sea and sky, birds and humans, standing still and the gentle act of walking. The exhibition reflects on how daily life becomes an act of gathering, as fragments of people, landscapes and memories are pieced together to form abstract, translucent impressions. Gathering features found ephemera, paper installations incorporating watercolor and embroidery, fabric assemblages and delicate mixed media works on paper. Contrasting scales and layered materials create an immersive environment designed to offer visitors a place for quiet contemplation.
Kristin Miller is a mixed-media artist whose work explores nature, place, memory and the connections formed through everyday observation. Using watercolor, embroidery, fabric, paper and found materials, Miller creates layered works that invite viewers to slow down and consider the textures, shapes and moments gathered throughout daily life.
