We are a non-profit organization that initially was formed to preserve and protect the Loxahatchee Battlefields located in what is now Loxahatchee River Battlefield Park within Riverbend Park in Jupiter, Florida. When professional archaeologists were hired to verify that Powell’s Battle on January 15, 1838 and Jesup’s Battle on January 24, 1838 both took place in Riverbend Park, they not only found proof of those battles, but over 50 archaeological sites within the park, some thousands of years old. We expanded our mission to teach the public (free of cost) about Seminole War history through weekly Battlefield Tours, monthly History in the Park Lectures and our annual Battle of the Loxahatchee Reenactment. We are also working with Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation and other partners to build both a Virtual Museum of the archaeology in Florida and a permanent Museum (Teaching Center). Can you imagine in about 5 years, going on archaeology digs led by a County Archaeologist in Riverbend Park, and displaying your discoveries in a museum located in the park?
